Did these on a 3in1 Thermal Arc 181i at 10A scratch start Never tried the 202 but she drops down to 5A.

Cheers, in that case I found an ultra clean super sharp 1.6 super well prepped tungsten was key, plus a flat bench for heat sink and some speed, hardest part was arcing up without getting stuck down to the blades lol

So how many million blades did you go through before you got the result. I can see a few attempts in the pic lol.

Oh a few lol, maybe 15-20 haha...

The 181's 10A is too hot so speed was key, super hot on these Stanley blades.

May have another go on my newer 202, prob just disappoint me and cost more good blades...lol Oh and if they are rusty, forget it...lol

There was a toolmaking company near me that bought a laser welding machine when a lot of their work headed to china, they thought they could diversify, anyway i seen feeler gauges they had welded together, amazing work, perfect welds and no distortion that i could see.

Had a go at the thin bits

I took my last two blades half an hour ago set them up so the knife edges were just touching. Set the machine up at 6amps on the panel then I plugged in the remote cable as I can use that to adjust the current at the bench. What I completely forgot about was the settings on the remote override the settings I set on the panel. Long story short I hit my last two blades with a nice round 125amps.
Should of left it unplugged. Let's put it this way that poor little pair of blades does not exist any more

Found it was better to use the button rather than pedal as machine can run slightly lower amps, for some reason theres a 10 amp difference anyone else have this issue?

Ron Covell welds razor blades and tin foil on one of his videos, he sets the blades on a little jig so he can arc up off the blades/foil then runs the torch across real quick with no filler

I bet your super sharp 1.6mm tungsten did not like it either.

Tungsten didn't suffer at all. 125 amps on a 1.6 is still within the range on DC even though I'd normally be using 2.4 for that current.
