Welding thin stainless

Theres all sorts of bits cut off other things in our scrap bins probably will be 2 and 3mm in there easily. Not so much 3mm as thats rarer for us and we have to cut that at another company because our guillotine won't do 3mm stainless (8ft x 1/8th mild, s/s is too hard at that) but it'll do 2mm s/s fine and we made a slide for a playpark recently. I could find some bits for you to play with

Yes please, any any other different scraps would be useful. i.e tube, rod, anything really.

Well I did this after 30 mins on 1.2mm stainless steel and never used a tig before. I joined here yesterday to get advice so only thing I can add as I know naff all is my starting amps were 5 and my main amps were 32. Using 1.6 ceriated and 1.6 filler and travelling some with no foot pedal as not plugged that in yet.

Filler way too big.

The Tungsten dia is fine but it’s the filler wire you will struggle with, the amps required to melt the filler will be way too much for the parent material.

Get some thicker material and you’ll start making progress

Me too. I have a roll of 0.8 and 1.0 316 for exactly that.

Cheers Richard but if used 1mm filler rod then the filler just sank level with the material and looked like I never even used filler but will get there ...... I hope

Arc length too long I’d say.
A 1.6 filler is nowhere near suited to a 30 amp pool. If your arc length and travel speed is all good a 1mm filler is gonna get you wonderful results.
