Thanks Bill,What do you get to the gallon - I suppose it's the 2.8 Mitsubishi diesel?
Did you get yours as direct imports? Where from?
Mine is the 2.5td (more reliable than the 2.8 if a little less powerful!) I get around 22-25mpg which isn't too bad because most of the driving is city (for work) and the thing weighs 2 tons!
I bought my first one (the one that's now really jacked up) from a dealer in Bristol who imports them himself. Had it over 5 years now.
My second one (the muddy one I've just sold) was from a guy in Cornwall who wanted rid of it because it failed the MOT. I paid £200 for it, drove down there with a mate, changed the blown brake pipe on his drive in about 10 mins then drove it home! Best £200 I've spent in a long time!
The third one (the blue one that is replacing the muddy one) I paid £400 about 1 month ago. A guy in Bridport owned it, didn't need it any more and just wanted it of his drive. He couldn't be bothered to MOT it, so didn't want much for it. I got a train down there and drove it back (on trade plates from a friend) and it sailed through the MOT the next day. I then stripped it and boarded it out ready for work.
They really are amazing vehicles and do pretty much anything you want them to!
Here are a few videos of a couple of our outings....
Gotta love the Delica!
Yeah it's gonna be a work vehicle alongside the Delica.MM, is your rascal van going to be used as a tool carrying vehicle or has it got any other purposes?
I want a small run-around van that is cheap to tax/insure/maintain etc... that I can use if working in town a lot. It'll get into spaces the Delica won't and will happily carry my most of my tools for most of my jobs.
I only paid £50 for it from a guy local to me who had retired and it had been sat on his drive for 7 years! About half an hour of cleaning the points and putting some fuel in it....it started lovely and I drove it home!
It's in pretty good nick for £50 and doesn't look like its seen much work (the paint in the rear load area/floor is totally unscratched!!)
The front steps are rusty (very common on these) and the upper strut/suspension mounts are looking a bit fragile too - other than that it's a very solid little motor and I can't wait to get it on the road
Sorry to bombard you with all these vids and photos - can you tell I get excited about cars!
