You can't get a 110v shock from a wet handle, you'd have to have a different part of your body in contact with each conductor to achieve it. 55v to earth is your worst and the reality is likely to be a lot less. Read on and you'll see where I said "240v is another matter" and qualify that too.

Wet concrete cutting is my trade, has been for many years so I do speak with some authority on this.

This was my work just before Christmas. Cutting out nearly 400 tonnes of concrete all below water. They just lifted out the last one a week ago.

depending on what your cutting, kerbstones, slabs, natural stone, they can all be cut accurately and neatly with nothing more than a bolster and a club hammer, just takes time.

And skill....

I visited a slate works, they did a tour and let you have a go at splitting into roof slates. I split one off about 10mm, handed the chisel back feeling proud. The bloke proceeded to split my slate again another 6 times to put me in my place...

You will still get silica dust from hammer/chisel action, but a lot lot less than a grinder I agree.

I'd have just used a electric grinder and stuck a hose pipe on it, don't it a few times, never had a shock

got a shock cutting through a live water pipe down a hole (on purpose)


there's a point where you've just got to get stuff done

if I had more time for planning'prep I'd still go electric with a hose... but hose running slower, better aimed at what I'm doing, probably some decent rubber gloves


I've got a big Hitachi stone cutting grinder now, which I always use with a hose pipe... but I'm pretty sure it's made for it
