What are these connectors?

I know it's not PCL or euro and I don't know of any others. So, what is it and is it better or worse than PCL? My hose is PCL, I'm not sure if I should replace the plugs on the tools or the socket on the hose.

Should be cheaper to replace the socket I think, this looks like it will do. That picture is all my air tools (Or will be when it arrives), already all the same.

This is the thread on the end of the hose, what part of it should I measure to get the nominal size?

Schrader/Rectus/Arco fittings,

Some people say they flow more than pcl's because they have less air resistance within them and the through bore is larger ?
they flow approx 50 cfm as apposed to 40 for pcl but that is very tongue in cheek IMO
in fact measure the id of the probe please --------coz the probe with pcl is 4.8 mm or 3/16"
With pcl's on high flow stuff I tend to run a drill through them to help.

Yes I know that but we collectively call that style pcl like people call hoovers but this is from schrader

The Schrader standard Twistlok is rated for a maximum pressure of 17 bar (or 250 psi) and a flow of 23.6 litres/second (or 50 cfm). The coupling half is also known as a check unit and the plug (or adaptor) profile is interchangeable with Rectus series 17 and PCL PF Range.

i think ive got the plug for those fittings got a few of them as ball bearings are close to the top to release the plug pcl i have those and a few plug fittings but some i dont know what they are

They are definitely Schrader fIttings, I have been using them over 50 years and they are all that I have on my compressor,plasma and all the windy tools, A good old name in air equipment and still going strong

Most of my air stuff have whips on them, it saves vibration and wear on the QR also helps stop unnwanted disconnection.

The top class fittings that we used at work,were made in the USA, called Dynaquip. Had a quarter turn lock/unlock incorporated into the female fitting.

The fittings they now use at aerospace are good, mate has the same type on all his stuff and says the difference is marked especially on high flow gear. Just a little larger physically but flow much better.

I too use whip hoses on all my tools which see any use.
As normspanners says it's better for the couplers and minimises accidental disconnection.

But the main reason for me is the improved size of the tool, it'll fit in places much better without the connector held rigidly onto it.

Absolutely Bill I also use this type of swivel http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silverlin...-Fitting-Universal-Joint-U-J-3D-/371264653683 on nut guns/ ratchets etc whips I strip them first and drill out the ports in them, to better flow the air through them. when getting anut gun in awkward places they are a must in my view.
was in fact grateful earlier today when fitting a steering rack I would never been able to get the bolts undone without getting the gun in the gap around exhaust manifold etc.
