Do you have a link for that?Like using these bars, they always cut nicely and give good chips.

The OD measured 29.98mm so bore turned the same to match.
I think I have the same bars but don't think I have got any tips for them yet. LolDo you have a link for that?
I need to get some new boring bars. My little 8mm one is just too springy.
Yes but for boring steel its important the inserts work well, I found it difficult to get good ones to suit boring and the ones above were luck.Do you have a link for that?

Remarkable coincidence you just posted these.Yes but for boring steel its important the inserts work well, I found it difficult to get good ones to suit boring and the ones above were luck.
I have a spare one I rarely use - the DCMT inserts I have dont work particually well at the different angle it uses. I'll get a photo if your interested, its a Korloy C08K-SDQCR-07.
The good ones above are SDUCR which is excellent with that style of single edge chip breaker. The APT inserts are not available anymore tho I have a few spare if you do get a SDUCR I can send a few, they last a long time.
I have one of these, min bore about 10mm. cCMT inserts

Ah, that makes more sense than your Insta postMachining Thin wall tubes again. 1,78mm od, 1,7mm Id. 8,5mm long out the shytest grade of mild steel available, 1010. Now to drill four rows of 5 holes around the circumference. Then I need to nickel plate them as no plating shop has the balls to plate them, let alone make them

A prototype part ,so unfortunately not at liberty to say. I need to make five of them.Fair play: I couldn't even begin to imagine making something like that! What are they for?
That would definitely get lost in the swarf tray of doomMachining Thin wall tubes again. 1,78mm od, 1,7mm Id. 8,5mm long out the shytest grade of mild steel available, 1010. That’s why I don’t make them on my Colchester . Think I have the remnants of Neanderthals in there…That would definitely get lost in the swarf tray of doom
Oi ! That's Essexist !That’s why I don’t make them on my Colchester . Think I have the remnants of Neanderthals in there…
Don’t worry, if you dig deep enough in that swarf tray, you probably can find the remnants of Moses who died trying to part the Sea of abysmal shavings, he never made it to Essex…Oi ! That's Essexist !
Hmmm there’s a lot more to this than I’d imagined! Shame that the postage costs are nearly the same as the cost of the tool. More investigation required!Yes but for boring steel its important the inserts work well, I found it difficult to get good ones to suit boring and the ones above were luck.

Rumour is that Jesus may have travelled to this benighted shore, along with Joseph of Arimathea...Don’t worry, if you dig deep enough in that swarf tray, you probably can find the remnants of Moses who died trying to part the Sea of abysmal shavings, he never made it to Essex…
So how on earth do you actually make these things? I can understand the 1.7mm hole, but how do you machine to a wall thickness of 0.04mm? That’s just crazy!Machining Thin wall tubes again. 1,78mm od, 1,7mm Id. 8,5mm long out the shytest grade of mild steel available, 1010. Witchcraft….I used to laser weld them together from foil but found it’s a lot easier to machine them from solid. So how on earth do you actually make these things? I can understand the 1.7mm hole, but how do you machine to a wall thickness of 0.04mm? That’s just crazy!
Reminds me of the line about the song "Jurasalem" - it begins with a series of questions, the answer to each of which is "no"Rumour is that Jesus may have travelled to this benighted shore, along with Joseph of Arimathea...
It'll all have been greatly downhill since, though...
