As I've previously said the capacitor needs to be tuned to the motor in question. What works on one motor won't work on another. Sounds like the capacitor isn't giving the correct phase difference to spin the motor correctly.
You could try measuring the voltage across the two poles of the motor whilst it briefly runs (be careful live 240 volts AC remember), the goal is to get both voltages roughly equal for efficient running.
