What device can I use to separate water from Paraffin/heating oil?

Interesting suggestions personally a think a few might be worth a go in my situation facing the thickest end of a grand or more for something I have no great desire to spend on

Trade association of companies supplying oil tanks recommends that people buy new oil tanks...

I suppose we should be glad that they had the decency to say 20 years and not 10.

Oftec might lack the proactive attitude and legislation at the hands of gas safe but I don't think they are on backhanders or hidden agendas
They did a great job when a local boiler man flooded a clients home with heating oil - although he remains registered!!!

just get a decent couple of oil filters in the line one with glass bowl and have a drain off tap in bottom of the tank job done . how simple can t be . ive just changed the filters on my diesel compressor the 1st its had in 30 years by the looks a bit water and silt in the glass filter and in the bottom of steel tank.it out no problem . why make a mountain out of a mole hill

Well, they're a trade association - promoting their members' interests is their purpose - it's not a hidden agenda, it's completely open.

It's no different to garages suggesting you might want to change tyres at 2mm tread or shampoo manufacturers wanting you to 'rinse and repeat' - it's perfectly honest, you just need to know what's going on.

As said the take off should be above the floor level of the tank & a drain tap at lowest level there are oil tank driers like a sock you dunk in tank we leave one in the tank (plastic) & change once a year id does get water in it.

I`d never heard of these devices until you mentioned it. I`ve bought one of these last week (from flea bay). Works a treat-just what I needed.
