What fitting do I need...?

Looking for fittings for my first compressor, Wolf Dakota 90 ltr. I've been advised to take the air from the tank, I'm guessing this screw in bung is to be removed and a fitting to be placed there.

It appears PCL XF are the best fittings to use, although I'm unsure as to what one I require. Can anybody advise?

So, and please excuse my ignorance, the 1/2" thread relates to the internal thread in the bung of the tank? Sorry this is all new to me and the terminology is somewhat baffling. For what brightspark is suggesting you would need one of those bushes with an inside thread of 1/2" BSP and an outside thread the same as your bung (perferably tapered). There is an explanation of BSP threads here. If you get hold of the fitting brightsparks suggests and then take that and your bung to your local plumbing merchant I would think they would sort you out.

Thanks for the info there Gordon. I don't have a heat gun or torch, but if need be that's another tool to be purchased!

Yep, I think that about sums it up. Hopefully you can get the bung out without heat as that would mess up the paint. I managed to get the one out of my compressor without heat - just be careful not to chew it up! If you get the bung out you should be able to work out the thread from the link I gave you previously.

e20767.pdf should give you the standard size for the hex key/bit which would then tell you what size the thread is.

That is based on them using a standard plug of course. I would think this is a European standard.

Flanged plugs seal on the flange so they won't be tapered. Plugs with no flange tend to be tapered but not always.

depends on your set up. if the compressor has an airline connected to it permanently that wont be removed you can just use a hose tail to bsp fitting and save yourself £5. you will need to fit a regulator somewhere in the air system if you're not using the original one.

..and that £5.00 is another two pints of pleasurable beer Sadly the airline will most like be removed due to storage and space restrictions when the compressor isn't in use. Yes I DO need a remote regulator, subject for another thread I think.
