i need to know 4 a job i`m looking at but i`m usless at resurching stuff

Without sounding rude, if it's a welding job and you don't even know the basic transfer modes then I'd say you were pretty screwed.

You research 'stuff' by typing it into google and clicking & reading the resultant links, rather than getting other people to do your reading for you and then type it out in little sound-bites so you can easily digest it.

Hi, i've been a Mig welder (un-coded) for 12 years. Decided to have a look for a better job and saw an advert which wanted the applicant to be able to pulse weld or at least know what it is. As I say i've been an employed Mig welder for 12 years and never heard of it. The Vacancy is for a Mig welder so it's not like it's for a type I dont know i.e. Tig/Arc.

Anyone able to tell me what it is?????

Apply for the job and be honest you are not upto speed with the pulsed welding but let them know you are only to happy to learn & become very good at it..

Some times people are happy to take on a guy who is lan improver / looking forward rather than looking back & over their shoulder . What have you got to lose ?

Pulsed MIG is an advanced form of welding that takes the best of all the other forms of transfer while minimizing or eliminating their disadvantages. Unlike short circuit, pulsed MIG does not create spatter or run the risk of cold lapping. The welding positions in pulsed MIG are not limited as they are with globular or spray and its wire use is definitely more efficient. By cooling off the spray arc process, pulsed MIG is able to expand its welding range and its lower heat input does not make burnthrough on thin metals a problem. Pulsed MIG is one of the best welding processes for a wide variety of applications and metal types.

theres basically 2 electrical currents...one to melt the end of the wire to create the molten state and another current or pulse which is higher to release the molten pool from the wire into the pool..at a lower power setting.as mr jeremy clarkson would say spray is POWER!!!!!!!
