If this is a critical part. I would let a welding specialist weld it. It may not be the weld that goes but the metal around it, the component may need normalising to take out the stresses. Also mentioned is the insurance are not keen on insuring modified road vehicles. I have been welding many years but would refuse to weld a safety critical component without an welding engineers guidance.
this and what hotrodder mentioned, the stresses this car will see if above and beyond a normal road car. You are very stupid to think your absolved from reponsibility just by "telling them" its not for road use
