That hole / slot are your impulse.
If you have some inner tube put it between the carb and the manifold the bolt it down
Here is the correct adapter
Don't forget the test under pressure and vacuum, also recommend turning the crank whilst under pressure or vacuum see if an a leak is created.
Once completed and everything back together measure the compression.
For setting up I highly recommend a tacho ( I do occasionally do mine by ear but always have them a bit rich until I can be sure with a tacho)
I use these,
The pickup wire I have wrapped up as a coil that I slip over the spark lead, will photograph tomorrow.
