That hole / slot are your impulse.
If you have some inner tube put it between the carb and the manifold the bolt it down

Don't forget the test under pressure and vacuum, also recommend turning the crank whilst under pressure or vacuum see if an a leak is created.


Once completed and everything back together measure the compression.

For setting up I highly recommend a tacho ( I do occasionally do mine by ear but always have them a bit rich until I can be sure with a tacho)

That'd be great thanks! Ordered the plug. I know the thread has gone a little off course but I created it so....
Fingers crossed seals are good in which case I'll clean up the old pot, piston and rings and reassemble for nowt. If seals are gone ind I need to spend I'll replace them and reassemble with a new meteor pot/piston. They're actually 2mm bigger bore so would effectively make an 88cc saw. Would love to have ago at porting but it's a good chunk of money at stake if it goes wrong!!

Fixing saws this week, finally plucked up the courage to sort the in-laws saw.

I'd take a Chinese clone over this anyday, keeps ripping gloves as the plastic is so sharp.




Rubber over the exhaust, bung the exhaust back on sorted.




Under pressure and vacuum, sorted my minor air leak. Now to clean the carb.

Luckily I'm not, but other firms are, my saws are from when I started expect the crap husky top handle that commited suicide. They made a lanyard attachment point that breaks off!!

Top down.
Carb rebuild and tune up.
Decoke the exhaust
Carb rebuild and an air leak.
Brake handle and service
New bearings and sharpen

Now the horrible one, only just had a new piston and bore by someone else. I was asked to fit new anti vibration mounts.
Started it up wasn't happy with how it ran, spoke to the owner who asked me to fix it.

Massive air leak as the impulse pipe wasnt seated, other parts incorrect. Now done.
