In the past I’ve opened cans with a sharp pointed kitchen knife, doesn’t take very long once you understand the principle of leverage.I remember going camping with my parents when I was a kid, my mother was trying to cook tea, the shout went up “where’s the tin opener” “errr don’t think we’ve got one” my father set about the tin with a hammer & an old spanner, much butchery later & tea was on the go. It would’ve been a Whitworth spanner, these newfangled Metric ones don’t fit the cans
That’s my got when someone wants me to open a can for them, simple and effective Works every time.I use the one on my Swiss army knife. Gets used about as often as the tool for getting stones out of horses hooves
P38.
Will any of these open a Fray Bentos pie can the bloody things half the life of any usual can opener.

Heated up correctly, the things are delicious, but I mostly refrain...Do people eat those things? I see then in the shop all the time. Wet pie in a can doesn't sound like a great idea

we use Bonzer tin openers here big old beasties.
yeah thats them ill grab a pic shortlyAre those the bench mounted ones that can be used to open oil drums? I was about to suggest one but didn't know who made them.
I’ve tried one, shan’t be repeating the exercise! It was all gravy & no meat. My wife makes a snake & kidney pie to die for, so I suppose I’m spoilt.I have eaten them - would not say "delicious" - but as an emergency back up in the pantry - they better than starving.
