I buy the £45 odd quid pairs from SF or TS I've had deWalt, "site" and whatever else they sell and they usually only last 8 months - but they get no abuse at all, just walking on concrete. -I wear them for that once a year when they save you from broken toes! They always just seem to fall apart, de-laminate in some odd location. My current pair of Screwfix - Site ones is from October and the back has split from the rubber heel. So I am hoping for some good recommendations!

Steel blues every time bud. Get them at BOC. They're not cheap but last for years. Had two pairs and the first lasted 3 years. Still on the second pair.

Another vote here for bucklers. Although mine are a dealer boot they do lace up ones too .
Had them well over a year so far , really comfy and well made with triple stitching .were about £60 but well worth it .
Had some site brand boots from screwfix before and they lasted 3months

I've opted for a pair from Screwfix (can't remember what sort) after a chance encounter with another brewer who has had his current pair for 3 years.

Hopefully they may do the job. If not they were only 30 quid.

Anything from Caterpillar has served me well. I've had V12 and found them good too. On DeWalts at the moment and even after 6 weeks the edge of the steel to is still rubbing the sides of my big toes raw. I won't be choosing them again.

I don't know what the quality of them is like now, but from 2000 until 2015 I wore a sucession of Trucker-brand boots. Light, comfortable and needed no breaking in, they were very long-lived, and only died because I used to knock the bejasus out of them by kneeling on concrete fitting pipes and wires all the time. I'd say each pair lasted about three years, the toecaps were scuffed open after three months and the naked steels carried on doing the job for the next two or more years
At the time, I'd looked for a suitable longer-term fix, and came across an American maker of rubber toe-cap protectors, but he wouldn't post them overseas, the rotter.
Those Ambler boots with the built-in rubber protectors look ideal.

Water proof to a certain level, however no good for welding/burning as "blobs" go straight through so over leather protectors needed

Just to add, I am/ was a vulcanizer bybtrade so always on knees splicing belts or climbing about on conveyors...granted not brilliant on steel frame work in wet but dry I had no issues bit o dont think any boot has grip on wet steel, iv been perched on a 1" lip and had plenty of grip dangling above another conveyor lol..

Bought a pair of these a few weeks back and sadly they don't agree with me, wore them twice and they were very uncomfortable I suppose what suits one person will not suit another.

Just about to buy a pair of the hyena ones based on feedback here as my Screwfix Site ones are really falling apart now! Yet to get a year out of any of them.

Bought my second pair of steel toe cap safety trainers from Aldi or lidl (Powerfix).
Last ones are grubby (well filthy really, well really black oily and so stained that they look like black dirty things) and dirty but not split, worn out after 3 years or so!! I'll keep them in the yard as emergency spares!

Dickies have lasted me about 10 years. Kind of mad when I think about it. Time for a new pair though, the holes in the top give me grubby socks.

Engelbert strauss boots are what I wear. Current pair is going on 7 years and should now be replaced, budget around 130 quid for a pair though
