I've tried about 6/7 masks an struggle to get anything to seal properly, might have something to do with the wild animal growing on my face. The only one that fitted properly was a very expensive air fed jobby and since I rarely weld on cars (health is poo) its not worth spending that amount out.

Beards? Heck it is an is an issue. Lung problems ain't something you brush off though

Dont disagree with any of the above either.

I could preach risk assesement, and dynamic risk review, but 95% of it is what Id call technical comon sense. Shame its not so common.

Indeed, the instructions on my current mask state no beards.

If I'm going to be somewhere particularly nasty, it's time for a shave. Tbh though the silicone 3m jobby I have now holds decent vacuum even with a grade 1-2 about the face. Not expensive.

When grinding, with earplugs, mask, full goggles and leather gloves it really hits home how pretty much you're whole body wants to be somewhere else.

My topest tip? If you're tired, and especially tired and in a rush, leave it. Unfailingly, all the slip ups, near misses and trips to minor injuries I've had (and there have been many) have almost all happened not concentrating, while too tired. Ppe, fire protection, and speedy access to cold water has minimised damage to life, limb and property but not doing stupid things is a better way of not getting hurt.

I think i will invest in a face mask for grinding i use a welding mask (with grind mode) but cant see much.

While i'm at it i may get a different grinder preferable a lighter one and without lock on only.

The number one and I know it's already bein mentioned but il say it again COMMON SENSE
Too many young lads don't have it I'm honestly sick of shouting stop cause a lads about to do some thing which is obviously wrong due to complete lack of common sense .
Ya can't teach common sense to some

Just find a mask that fits you better if it don't seal enough to stop your glasses steaming up its nowhere near efficient or effective

If you wear any sort of mask to protect your lungs you should have passed a face fit test for that brand and model of mask, or you might as well not wear it as it can have no or a limited results.
From memory you must be clean shaven for a mask to work, beards are managed with Jupiter hoods or similar which to be honest whilst cumbersome are very good at filtering stuff, for starters the inlet is around the back so usually not near the work in hand.
