I thought my broken jaw would take the prize for the worst condition Swinden's ever but no. This one is worse!
Even in the original advert it had holes blown in the side, looks even worse from the inside. I think it's met a few welders in its day.
This rare version doesn't have bolts to hold the jaws on, they are riveted (with bolts).
I just chopped away at it with a cold chisel...
...until the bolts drove out.
With all this grease and oil, I am going to skip the citric and dunk it in a bath of Trisodium Phosphate. Should dissolve all the grease and probably loosen the paint too.
I might actually go to town on this one. Certainly some custom jaws, possibly a rotating base, definitely a fair bit of welding as ever, followed by quite a lot of grinding.
