Useful to know, cheers. I think it was over at South Bank where I used to get the CO2 but they were bought out and a bottle rolled under the locked gate stoppedHobbyweld small bottles is a trip to darlo. Larger ones is a trip to bishop. Sgs and Adams is a trip to northallerton or York. Can't remember which is which. One for one one for the other. There's an energas on the back Road in South bank(gypsie territory). No idea on their prices but a good few garages around here are using energas on large oxy acy probably delivered cheaply?. There's a place around Ross road that exchanges albee but only argon &co2 hefty initial charge on the bottle for them though for other gasses it's upto leechmere. Flavs done the AP bottles but they've shut up shop if you had an empty and cash in your pocket you got a full one, prossers in Parkfield aswell but thats been shut years.
But imho boc acetylene is far superior than the others, seems to burn a lot smoother than the rest.
Just had invoice from BOC, Hobby weld scheme, Argon size Y Annual rental £160.56 inc vat, Plus non Direct debit account fee £6 inc vat, Paper invoice fee £7.14 inc vat. Add that lot up & its a total of £173.70
Sod that, theiving gits. I used the tig three times this year. Not worth me owning one any more.

That's the secret by the time the rental renewal comes in you have already started next year's so even if you cancel you are still due 1-2 months. They did me for that again one last time i just couldn't be bothered to argue the tos, just happy they are no longer a supplier. Thieving twonts!I’ll be getting rid of my BOC oxygen bottle before the rental renewal this year and replacing with a local supplier.
Thanks for that, will have to check it out. Any idea on prices?Oak rd motor factors, over the border in Middlesbrough are SGS agents. I get my 20 litre 200 bar argon there.
It's 6 months or so since I last filled. I think it was approaching £100. It's expensive initially as there's the deposit to pay too which was maybe £120 if I recall correctly. Don't forget to claim back the £20 off the deposit. Keep the receipt and contact the owner on here. I think it's agautosport. Thanks for that, will have to check it out. Any idea on prices?
I'm with BOC under the Volkszone scheme [not even sure that's even still available tbh] for my Y size Argoshield and pure Argon bottles.
I've been paying £10.40 rental for both bottles together which, as I'm a low volume user, seemed ideal and I could get the bottles replaced by taking them to the depot in Inverness when I was down in town.
February's invoice today has risen to £28.68! I spoke to the chap at the depot and he's getting H.O. to phone me "to discuss your pricing regime".....we'll see......
If they'll not budge I'm looking at just returning the Argon and sticking with MIG welding, even it it does mean doing it outside. Thing is, the Argon bottle has loads of gas left as I turned out to be hopeless at TIG because of an eye problem, and there's no refund on the gas [understandably I suppose] .
Watch this space.
I've just come on here to see if this has happened to anyone else. Exactly the same details.
The last price review e.mail I have from them is 1 Dec and it works out as a rise to £12 from £10.40 for pureshield and Argoshield which I don't mind.
Sent them a message, we'll see what they come back with.
I've been on the Volkszone deal for my Argon for a few years, it's crept up every year and December's invoice was £63.20 - that's just annual rental. Last refill was north of £53 plus collection fee (wtf is that about? Does Tesco charge you to collect your groceries?).
Unfortunately, as far as I know there's nobody else within striking distance of Teesside who does a better deal - otherwise I'd be out.
To be fair, for the amount of TIG I do (or need to), I may as well sell the gear - but as I can't get my CO2 bottles refilled as easily as the good old days (fire extinguisher place ) I'd still need Argoshield for the MIG set

I'm guessing this it monthly and not annually prices?
When i inquired about the hobby bottle it worked out around £10per year cheaper, boc is like a bad women, I keep going back knowing fine well its going to hurt
