Just used some KYDEX to make some cheek risers for my pcp rifles and noticed the number of uses includes knife sheaths . Extremely easy to cut and shape very malleable using a wall stripper hot air gun and incredibly strong when cooled . Can be reheated and reshaped as required . Ebay purchase.Plastic slide on knife protectors are a very useful thing to keep them sharp and protect fingers.
Annoyingly most cheap knives no longer supplied with them, just a tiny bit of plastic on the tip.
I keep a short knife in car for fruit and making sandwiches and food while Im out, the sleeve fell down the side of drivers seat, never to be seen again.
Her's or your's ?I have a knife like the op's I bought it in Japan. Sharp enough to shave with, it live in its own little box to preserve the edge. A friends girlfriend wanted to have a go with it and promptly removed part of a finger.

I have the same one, (a Mitutoyo branded version) with a magnetic base, absolutely brilliant bits of kit...Scored another nice little trinket at an auction. Went to collect it yesterday.View attachment 479812View attachment 479813
They cost about £150 each but I picked up a pair for £100 from a guy who used them once so they were a bargain or I would have not got themAfter a very helpful chap used one of these to help the RAC man get my car (with broken suspension arm) off the low-loader, I was looking for a set of these, because I like to be self-sufficient and he isn't there all the time, and because I had a neighbour who kept leaving his van in a spot where it prevented my shed door from opening. I never found any at a reasonable price, and the neighbour has moved out now, so I can't really justify them. And I bought a set of the cheap ones where you have to jack the car up, and they've been used once and it'll be ages before I use them again. Probably.
I almost got a set of four for about £250 from FB marketplace, but I was trying to get measurements to see if they'd fit in my car for collection, or whether I'd have to ask a mate with a bigger car to take me, when someone else bought them. The down side of having a smaller car, I guess. They cost about £150 each but I picked up a pair for £100 from a guy who used them once so they were a bargain or I would have not got them
Benefit of being young...I keep mine in my single lock up out of sight from anyone , I’ve had it for years and only one very good friend has used it , even then I was with him
I’m in the same boat- bought one many years ago but nowadays it’s only used once or twice a year- but it costs me nothing sitting there waiting…I wouldn't want to be without mine now, but it only gets a few outings a year, and I sometimes wonder if it's objectively worth hanging on to.

Ok so it costs to renew tyres when they age. Oh and the floor when it rotted. Oh and it needs a service as a brake is stuck on. but APART from that it costs me nothing..
