I ordered 2 of these from Vevor, 1 for the new plasma cutter to go with the table build, the other one to use solely for the carbon air-arc torch, hopefully with double water filter traps I'll have clean/dry air. the fixing bracket appear strong and can be reversed so the in/out ports can be changed if required.

Mmmmmmm yes. I sold my plant trailer for the reasons you quote. Now when I get asked can I borrow your digger the answer is yes sure if you've a trailer to move it on and a car to pull it. Rarely does it leave here now.

I keep mine in my single lock up out of sight from anyone , I’ve had it for years and only one very good friend has used it , even then I was with him

Noooo.

Having a car transporter trailer is an exercise in learning people don't know how to tow one, load one, secure ramps back to one for driving, how to tension, release or otherwise use ratchet straps, have no idea about jockey wheels and raising it, keeping the safety cable away from the ground, not reversing it into solid things and being surprised the lights seem to now have no lenses, forget to release the brake, forget to apply the brake . . . all this from an experienced trailer owning and owing mate . . .

My trailer seems to be in constant state of disrepair these days whenever anyone wants to borrow one . . .

This is very true. My last trailer came back damaged.
Also an acquaintance borrowed it on the agreement he re-wired the electrics with the parts I supplied…..it never got done.

There a few people I’ve lent to that I trust without question, I’ve broke the jockey wheel. But replaced it with a better high quality one the next week as promised.

Having went through many of the cheap workmate type portable work tables I just ordered one of these:

Seems to be heavy duty, well made and in wheels. I will have it Friday week and report back if anyone interested. Comes with power rail etc. I will get a metal cap made for it to protect it. Drop on type thing then when I know I won't have high potential for damage I'll use it as wood finish. It almost looks too nice to use in a garage!

Will be great for soldering etc too with a padded seat.

I went to a farm sale just before xmas, I bought a spare workmate for a quid
it can live under the carport for outside use rather than dragging one out of the workshop,
oh and it came with a free paste table,

Dragged an old, but little used, workmate out of skip at work 25 yrs ago - a really handy thing to have. The wood bits on top are never going to go rusty with the amount of engine oil soaked into them from engine builds

I bought one of these tail end of last year, it's a trolley, car skid, hop up, workbench and 3 things I can't remember
Excellent bit of kit and only £100 with discount applied.
It's sturdy, adjustable height is superb.
I'm looking forward to using it this year, always looking for an extra work area!

Store it not in a drawer and keep it out of the dishwasher to keep it sharp. Very pretty knife, I'm quite jealous.

Much like storing taps etc mixed up in drawers - it's the banging together with others. On it's own in its own drawer, no problem.

Today I finished fixing a Boxford cross slide that some one had broken, probably by overtightening the tool post.

I was going to try brazing it but decided to tig it using aluminium bronze filler as the colour wouldn't be so off

I preheated it in the small domestic oven I have in the workshop and used the oven to cool it down as well.



I put plenty on to try and not leave a gap and it was nearly enough.

I used my surface grinder to remove the excess and flatten the top face.

And used a die grinder and hand file to get the rest.

It came out ok, far from perfect but a lot better than it was.

You can see the bit I missed but I can live with it.

Other things rattling round but more importantly as it would be loose, taking the end of your fingers off when you go to grab something else, it literally is that sharp, it's like having a foot long new Stanley knife blade.

I've ordered a knife holder that's going on the rear of one of our top cupboard doors to keep it out of harms way, I'm tempted to save and buy a carving knife now

Plastic slide on knife protectors are a very useful thing to keep them sharp and protect fingers.
Annoyingly most cheap knives no longer supplied with them, just a tiny bit of plastic on the tip.

I keep a short knife in car for fruit and making sandwiches and food while Im out, the sleeve fell down the side of drivers seat, never to be seen again.
