I’m in the same boat- bought one many years ago but nowadays it’s only used once or twice a year- but it costs me nothing sitting there waiting…
Ok so it costs to renew tyres when they age. Oh and the floor when it rotted. Oh and it needs a service as a brake is stuck on. but APART from that it costs me nothing..

Which is part of the reason my wheels come off after every use and get stored in the shed . . . makes it a bit harder to simply tow away too.

They're not cheap.

I have the same one, (a Mitutoyo branded version) with a magnetic base, absolutely brilliant bits of kit...

It certainly is a nice quality tool. According to google they are in de region of €270/€300 new. I got this one for €70.
That Mutitoyo one is even more expensive, €1200 . But looking at the specs also more accurate. 0.05°, against the 0.1° for the KellStrom.

Benefit of being young...

I have offered multiple people in need of a way to move big heavy stuff the use of my trailer and they're always too scared to tow the thing even if I spend some time "sitting by nelly" to familiarise them with towing.

I wouldn't want to be without mine now, but it only gets a few outings a year, and I sometimes wonder if it's objectively worth hanging on to.

I rarely used mine when in the UK, but now it gets used 2/3 times a week - we have to take our own recycling to the bins in the centre of the village, then there's green waste which goes to the other end of the village, then the council tip for workshop waste, garden centre and steel merchant visits...

Well yesterday actually, I got my “ desktop” waterjet cutter. Just need to get a suitable water supply up on the Mezzanine floor.

Pretty much whatever you put in it. Metal , glass, organics, fingers


Will do 10mm stainless 20mm in Ally… supposedly. Not bought for that. Bought for cutting thin materials that the Lasercutter company doesn’t want to do. And some ceramic components that I don’t want to cut on the lathe or milling machine.
