Any of you guys removed the gearbox on the iveco daily. It's next on the list of things. I understand they can be bit of a ass to remove. Have done a lot of truck gearboxes but not on the iveco.

The fixings are soft and may round.
The Input shaft can pick up half way.

Stupid pull clutch setup.
In theory you use a suitable pair of circlip pliers to open up the release bearing retaining clip to allow you to remove the gearbox.
In practise, they rarely release in situ, and you have to **Language** about through the release lever hole and remove the two pivot bolts.

Also don't open the clutch hydraulic system. They come as a complete pre-bled system, so just remove the slave cylinder from the bracket, tuck it up somewhere, and make sure nobody presses the clutch pedal with the cylinder removed.

exactly as @m_c says , can be a faff , but its ok, best to renew release bearing while your at doing the plate .

,think there is a small bearing on the end of the shaft ? if so you need to change that as well as it doesnt come with kit.

how are the front wings for rust ? I have a pair here if needed, not rusty or expensive

I have got to replace the outer wings. The iner wings are rotten as a pair but are available from abroad. I will pm you

Just been doing a bit of research and apparently there is a gearbox oil only available from iveco that really improves the gear change.

Petronas or something it’s called.

Iveco recommend their own in vans and trucks. I notice the difference if you put run of the mill oil in a lorry engine vs petronas.

No reason why box should be different.

I know they all say their own oil is better but iveco stuff really seems to be.

When nI was fitting lorry loader cranes, we had a fitter who dumped the gearbox oil. He was fitting the PTO.
They filled with of the shelve stuff. The company had to pay for a new box.

We were told it was to do with the sofet fiber materials in the dogs.

How true that is, I don't know. But it was what we were told at the time.

They filled with of the shelve stuff. The company had to pay for a new box.

I know the engine in the Stralis sounds all knocky if you put run of the mill oil in from a motor factors.

There’s something in it I’m sure.

Onwards with repairs. Front bumper is a little rough. Had to cut it off from the side mounts. Thankfully the 4 bolt that hold it to the main rail brackets are OK. The plastic block it almost hanging off. Will sort this. Old fixings removed.

its true, normal oil, stirring treacle, iveco gbox oil , slick smooth light change, found out myself by using it.

Not sure if that’s been mentioned before.

On mine it was the actual turrets that were part of the cab and sat on the actual mount that corroded.

That’s what wrote the van off in the end. You’re into major rebuilding territory and I didn’t have the time.
