what did you use for a tank in the end?

I acquired a 9kg gas cylinder fits like a glove pics to follow

nylon is what is usually used for trucks air lines the only steel is usually the header pipe off the compressor for a metre or so in a coil sometimes .

Haven't read the whole thread, but just in case it hasn't been mentioned...

If you're compressing air the moisture will form an emulsion with the oil, so feeding the oil back into the inlet may not be a good idea. On a closed system there is a bulb containing desiccant which removes any initial moisture in the system.

I had a multi fridge compressor setup and filtered out the oil/water/emulsion and discarded it. Obviously the oil had to be kept topped up.

I have got a desiccant container from my vw when I removed the AC. But the plan is to use a oil/mist separator and just manually empty it as and when a discard it, not sure how much oil the compressor will take in as yet through the inlet via a mini oiler

getting there with this project just waiting of the compressor to be delivered!

anyway it is all plumbed up apart from the compressor and electrical side, how many amps would u expect a clutch on a compressor to draw? just wondering whether or not to use a relay with the pressure switch to control the clutch?

Also is it a good idea to have a manual pressure gauge to monitor the tank?

If you get stuck for a compressor Mr Chef I have some here, some new and some used. No chance of me ever using them now and I believe the gas has changed since I got these, probably only any good for the application you are using them for so you are more than welcome to one if you need it.

well getting there with this one just need to fit the belt and tensioner tomorrow and fix the leaks! toolstation bushes and nipples dont work too well on air! lesson learned,

just incase the compressor fails to switch off

Off the top of my head if you have 25 l @150 psi in 30 seconds that will probably need to be at least a 1/2" valve to keep the flow going, without the pressure continuing to increase.

doh didnt think of that! I only have 1/4" BOV

I can not seem to find a 1/2" valve so it looks like the 1/4" will have to do I expect it would blow the hoses off my connectors before the tank
