Epoxy doesn't normally have Isos in the hardener. Thanks for that Snooper will try and find it ..
the problem with charcoal filter masks is that they work on negative pressure ie when you breath in, if the mask isn't a perfect seal to your face you can pull in paint, where as an air fed mask is constantly pushing air out of the face seal so nothing can be pulled in through you inhaling, if you feel ok you should be fineWow, what a valuable thread. This could save people's lives. It has scared the heck out of me.
Today I sprayed some 2k primer and paint from a rattle can. The kind you push a pin on the bottom to mix. I wore a charcoal type mask that covers mouth and nose and a full face mask like you might use for grinding but not sealed around the eyes. Area was fairly well ventilated but not a paint booth.
Afterwards I felt slightly off which led me here. It's been 2-3 hours so I assume I will not be passing out and hopefully no long term damage. Any symptoms I should watch for in next few hours?
This stuff should really be banned in rattle cans. I bought it from Eastwood, a company here in the US that mainly supplies hobbyists like myself. Sure, the warnings about "proper equipment" are there but they should spell out in laymans terms, what that means.
Hopefully others read this FIRST.

yes self diagnosis isn't the best thing available on the internetThanks for the prompt reply. The downside to the Internet is reverse placebo effect, you can start imagining symptoms!
I had mask on pretty tight and it was only a can for a fairly brief period of time. No symptoms beyond paranoia! Still, I will not even consider using this stuff again without proper equipment.
The Eastwood primer is 2k epoxy primer it has no isos. The clear does have isos. Was your mask new? Thanks for the prompt reply. The downside to the Internet is reverse placebo effect, you can start imagining symptoms!

A bump for this thread.
I had noticed for a while that my compressor seemed to have rather a lot of white paint on it. I assumed, possibly correctly that it was due to the fan on the motor. Anyway, today I had reason to look at the intake end of the compressor and found to my horror that the flexible fresh air feed hose was starting to fall apart. One large split, plus many smaller ones. As the compressor is in the same workshop where I spray, that is clearly rather serious.
For some while, I have had congestion and Rhinitis that the doctor has put down to a pet allergy. However, according to the HSE information, isocyanates can also be the cause, so it has me wondering, although I only spray iso paint a few times a year and the compressor is shielded from direct line of sight to the paint booth.
A have a new hose on order and will give more thought to my previously abandoned plan to get the compressor outside in some sort of shed.
Mistake??One of the most common mistakes I see in home/small workshops
