I was taught with 6013 rods at St Albans college ,got city and guilds and passed a test 36 years ago , I still weld pipe with 6013 2.5 , 2.5 gap 1.5 land , i use bohler rods and amps set at 60 , 65 may turn up over the top as said , if im rotating i always come up the side of the pipe I find I get better penetration , get that keyhole going , make sure both walls are melting in , weave a bit if you have to !
