A vertical up weld should look like a flat position weld or as near as keep a tight arc 90 degrees rod angle and slightly osolation of the rod or slight weave moving forward. Do you stick weld lots and in the flat position

I don't class my self as s welder but depending on your machine I would say 50 or 60 amps is cold for a 2.5 in the vertical up I'd say nearer 70 + amps would be closer but again all machines are different

Thanks guys. I'll have another go. I can't remember what amperage I was set to for the first go, maybe it was higher and I have just gone way too far the other direction.

thought id have a go with some old 6013

ere we have a vertical open corner with some old 2.5 vodex for the root and some damp farm shed 3.25 6013 linde

these have been lying in the damp for 20 years !root at 80 amps cover pass 95 amps
