Not wishing to offend MrFluffy, but your post is so technically wrong I barely know where to begin!

My point is this, electricity is a general term, unlike current and voltage. You measure Amps, you measure volts, you cannot measure electricity as it does not actually refer to anything you can measure. The nearest thing to it in real terms would be energy, as that's what you pay for.

Watts are units of power, and is typically current multiplied by the voltage, with care how you do it with AC, as both vary.

I knew an electrician that used to lick his fingers and flick wires to see if they were live.

a tutor of mine used to work on HV and recons the best way was to wet back of hand and place against live part to check it!!

Same reason we used to check electric fences that way so your hand doesn't contract and grip the wire,,,,,,also don't p*** on electric fences
