Were these readings with the two red, black and yellow wires disconnected from everything else? It's just that you mention white to black and there's no white coming off the motor, white is a capacitor wire?

There is a white coming from within the motor

That's connected to the body of the motor

You're confusing things.

Ok, that's the yellow / green earth wire connection. Just going back to this again:

Red to red reads 1.5 ohms,black to yellow 0 ohms . I tried white to black and it read 4.9 ohms.

Red to red looks good, as does the black to white. However the black to yellow reading of 0 ohms is concerning, that says you've got a short from a motor winding to earth. Did your meter read zero for this test (same as when you touch the red & black probes together) or did it read open circuit (same as when you don't touch the red & black probes together). Just wanting to check that I'm understanding your 0 ohms comment correctly that's all.

On a side note , I've ran the motor for maybe a couple of minutes total , its getting quite warm , will that be because there are no capacitor fitted ?

You've lost me now. How do you have it wired? When you say "run," is it spinning? All motors produce heat.
If it's getting too hot to touch then it's going to end badly.

Is the motor shaft turning?
As you have it wired the ends of the windings are not connected to anything so not completing a circuit

You need both capacitors connected. The 0-40 uf one is the start capacitor

Well guys , I just finished connecting everything the way it was and hey presto she's alive . Can only put it down to a bad connection .
