Don't know about that. Contacting the manufacturer would be the obvious step. Li-Ion batteris do tend to outlast NiCad and NiMh by quite a margin though. With the pace of change in LED/Li-Ion technology by the time you need to replace it, it will be half the price and twice the power.

Led Lenser still use 3x AAA Nimh cells in their H7R torches. They last ages in use but when they do go flat its really handy being able to stick in another set of AAA cells & use the torch again instead of waiting for it to charge. Better too if you are out camping & have no way of charging batteries.

Horses for courses, really. I have both battery and rechargeable head torches, but the one that gets the most use is the rechargeable, as it's appreciably lighter and less obtrusive in use. But battery head torches do have their uses, as you point out.

My lad borrowed my old cheap energiser head torch the other day to go to a fireworks night, he and his mates loved it so I got him and my daughter one of those Toolstation ones ^^ of their own and also picked a couple up for his mates as Xmas presents!

For head torch I wouldn't use anything that doesn't use a single 18650 lithium battery. Lasts for absolutely ages.
Zebralight is the daddy for head torches, but probably to complicated. I'd imagine hard to get at the minute.
Olight is good and is 5 year warranty. 1 button operation
My favourite due to price etc and very simple to use is a skilhunt. Mine is a skilhunt h03 which is probably an old model now.
When you get used to lithium 18650s you won't go back to any other battery. Its the same battery that run drills only theirs more of them in a drill.
And as always stick to good brand batteries.
Look up skilhunt on youtube.
You need to know if you want a spot, spot and flood or flood. For working up close I prefer flood as its just like daylight.
Also different colours of light. Some light a whitish light but I prefer a more neutral light that looks natural

Theyre all over the place, so maybe buy from a different retailer than Amazon. Again, normally about £15 also.

I have a couple. They last well. The weak point is where the wire solders onto the BMS pcb in the rear.

The batteries that it comes with will probably be poor. Mine are full of cells from scrap laptop power packs.


I used to wear one for hours at a time, and just swap out the cells when they ran out, and carry on working. Theyre light enough, good and bright, and resonably comfortable, and pretty durable. And all of around £15 from a load of different places.

That is what I use as well.
Standard cells supplied have been fine. Got 2 of them.

Well I've been using the Unilite tonight outside and in the garage. Definitely one of those "why didn't I buy one before" items!

Thought I would see how long they stayed on for before they went flat , it was still going strong after six hours so I got bored and turned it off. PIR mode works well so don't have to prod about.

Led lenser se03 for me, with rechargable AAA batteries. Kids chuck it everywhere an it survives. Batteries last well and it is bright. So I would definitely say I would get an led lenser again. I dont think I need one any brighter but thats not to say I would not be tempted with any of the rest of the range if I can get the same light output but with longer battery life
