Can't see it either, in IE. Not sure why, though IE could handle BMPs. Best saved as JPGs anyway, thems is universal browser fodder so everyone and his/her dog will see 'em OK.

Avant is a front-end for IE so that makes sense. As Chipper says, JPGs are better, and the filesize is less than BMP for a given image.
