47 percent caustic soda with hot water. Nasty stuff. What are you using for stripping paint?
It's the one part of rebuilding stuff I don't have a good method for yet.
Indeed! Used to work at a place when I was a kid with huge caustic tanks.47 percent caustic soda with hot water. Nasty stuff.
Yes its deadly to be honest. The usual ppe . Breathing mask.. chemical gloves. Eye protection ect. But used correctly its good stuff.Indeed! Used to work at a place when I was a kid with huge caustic tanks.
Edit...
It was a big (8'x4'x4' ish) tank. It was black, HOT and kept circulating. Looked like treacle. I used it mainly to strip the burnt on food from large cages full of pizza huts pizza pans!
One day a load if it splashed all up the arm of my jumper. I was a 17, had no clue about anything, thought nothing of it. About 2 seconds later someone grabbed me from behind and plunged half my upper body in the water rinse tank. Said it would have took my skin off when it had got though my clothes!

That looks like a good volume in the bottom of that cut off IBC tank. Do you store and reuse it somehow?47 percent caustic soda with hot water. Nasty stuff.
No. I syphon it out down the foul drain. Caustic is used to clean drains so it will not do any damage or harm. Its sort of a waste hence why I try to keep as many parts in the tub as I can. That looks like a good volume in the bottom of that cut off IBC tank. Do you store and reuse it somehow?

I bet you're careful sucking on that syphon pipe you know that. Definitely avoid a gob full of that
I use zinc phosphate high build primer with enamel top. All hand paintedNot hanging around!
What primer and paint are you using?
I'm going epoxy primer and enamel paint on my lathe.
If you get a good quality paint...a nice temperature and some good brushes you can get a nice finish
