Aldi /Sheppach Bandsaw

In case anyone's interested.... I just noted that Aldi and again selling a Sheppach 1100 127mm cut bandsaw - for £149.99 on their online store only.

It looks like it's a new model though - before it was the MBS1100, this one looks like it's an MBS1200. I've no idea what the difference is (I've never seen either in the flesh).

I have the older mbs11000, the new one looks the same but has a 100w higher output motor. don't know why they bothered because the old one is not short on power

Weirdly I checked online and the new one still has the 1100w motor

It looks like it has a proper screw vice unlike the awful one on the earlier model

I've resisted up till now - but at £104 inc. Shipping - well that's pushed me over the edge.

Aldi can't/won't ship to Scotland??
How weird is that!
I realise Couriers charge more for certain postcode areas (far outlying peripheral, rural places etc)... but I've not heard about Co's refusing to ship there at all!

Aye, quite a lot confuse our postcode with Islands, as their software will [presumably] designate it as 'Highlands & Islands' when we're actually mainland.

Aldi's loss.

Quite common on eBay etc....."doesn't post to Scottish Highlands".

You don't know anyone near enough in a postcode they will ship to - that'd take delivery for you?
It's a shame for you to miss out on a good deal.

I think I'd quite likely use the saw at least as much upright as horizontal if I could. One of the reasons for getting a bandsaw (apart from square cuts and accurate mitres) is the huge reduction of grinding disc dust (& noise!)..... so I'd far rather cut bits of flat plate and repair patches etc with the saw.

I got one of the originals when it was on offer, later got a a Femi with a table for upright work.

The Aldi original is a very capable bit of kit for it's size, assume this later one would be good too.
The vice clamp on the 1st was pants but can be modded to work well.

Do not bin the OE blade just for the sake, its a very good all rounder and lasted well, replacements I bought were not as good even branded.

OE blade did this (with some setup) and it was not slow at all.

Saw arrived today.... damaged.
The pivot bracket (which looks pretty flimsy anyway), had a crack in the base, so the saw body was flexing (which was what had me looking more closely).
I've a sneaking suspicion this is an item previously Returned - and it's been re-sold without being checked properly.
Dammit.
