Right. Ive got back to this & it's not good. The gears in the feed gearbox are all rusty and badly pitted, & the 2 output shafts are quite badly worn. On top of that the tailstock barrel is pretty much goosed too, I think if I try to clean it up with a morse taper reamer then it will be too deep and the male taper would bottom out before locking up.
I think the options are, spend a fortune on new parts & make it work, or break it for spares & get another machine. I'm tempted by the second option as that will allow me to get a bigger machine but I have quite a lot of tooling for the M300. Any thoughts folks?
Cheers, its more the morse taper socket in mine thats gubbed. If I use a MT3 reamer to clean it up I thing it will be too deep if you get me?
