Another weird job

Dont talk to me about big girls!!!
30+ years ago at a godawful family party I was accosted by a big girl, nice girl but definitely not my type. She followed me around for the whole duration.
A few days back my mum met her and told her I was single again.
Yesterday Mum was saying 'Oh Alan you chat up merchant' ???
Then she mentioned said big girl, how fond she was of me etc and I was just able to dredge up a snippet of memory. Thinking?? 30+ years ago.
Next thing I had a bloody email with kisses asking me if I would like to 'reconnect'.
I made it clear that this was not my intention.
My mother would have been killed on the spot if she was within reach.
Poor big girl is probably broken hearted that the halfwit teenager is not interested.

Reality is. Creativity is rarely properly recognised. Dispite my post above, one needs to be a bit hard nosed. Clients often do not realise how much thought goes into a project and that time costs, or should do. I have had a couple of cases (not my work) where they costed the materials, added a bit for fabrication, then wondered about the 'high' cost. Bit like the German clients.. Asked the local garden centre to plant out their villa. Then moaned about the price. I quizzed them why.. seems they had costed the plants by looking at other places but ignored the time and effort + transport to plant them.

Not it's not very often but to me it's just being strong minded enough to not buckle under financial pressure because I was taught to respect myself otherwise nobody else will. When I started out a guy I knew opened a posh gallery in London, I made the sign and in exchange I got to put two pieces in the gallery. He told me to never underprice my work because that will build momentum and I'll always be know for being cheap rather than quality. That advise paid off even though the gallery was a wash out. And since then every time I've tried to cater for the price hungry bargain hunter it's always bitten me in the **** cause they are always the ones to complain. It's hard when times are tough but sticking to ones guns pays off... Eventually.

My biggest fear was taking the sample on tour.
