Nice to see the T slots in the saddle. For gasket paper the hose man who goes to Newark autojumble also sells Kilngerite, but as said a nice bit of card and Hylomar will be fine.
May be best relocate the switches / fit a stop switch to the front of the machine so you don't have to reach over.

That's a nice chuck, I have a 4jaw auto that looks very similar.

I bet the gasket was asbestos, they loved the stuff back then. Did you know the EU want it off the banned list at present
