My old Rehm was specced in the manual.as I said heavy enough supply
"Will run off 100mtr extension cable from a 13amp supply with no current losses".
I've never tried it but these modern machines can do wonders nowadays. (So they claim).

so what was the input current rating on the machine
then we can calculate the voltage drop and cable conductor size required at that length even if it is 13 amp

Well it's rated at a max of 16 amp fuse.
You can calculate anything you want mate it means nothing to me. I'm just reading what they claim.
It's a high end German welder much like lorch and ewm so I hardly think they will be telling too many porkies.

it means a lot to me. the machine must have an input load to calculate the cable csa over 100 meters, yes it can be done but your not going to do it with a bit of 2.5mm lead

I'm not a sparky so I cannot speak for anything other than what I read about it and what seems logical to me.
The thing is Rehm state 100m off a 13amp plug no current losses.
You say 2.5mm cable no chance. Well I would say they probably can because you can't physically fit a bigger cable than 2.5mm2 in a 13 amp plug. I'm sure they would of tested this feature before making a bold claim. Inverter technology these days brightspark. I would even hazard a guess that Fronius and ewm claim similar things. These are not Micky mouse companies. These claims will of been tested and proved.

I think you'll find that for a test like that they will use industrial plugs/sockets and large csa cable, then adapt down to 13 amp plugs right at the last. It's not cheating, it's what you need to do to get a machine to perform as stated.

I don't mate. I'll freely admit it. Like I say I can only go by what sounds logical.
Logically you couldn't get 10mm or even 4mm 2 cable in a 13amp plug.
Either these companies are telling some big porky pies or they have achieved something in development.

They are running off 13 amp, you can believe that. But they won't be using wire you can fit into a 13 amp plug top to do it over 100 m.

just a humerous note..VW a german firm have got into a bit of trouble recently for exactly that..fudging the truth, I am not saying anyone is right or wrong just that I am now old enough not to believe any sales person as they will state hand on heart what you want to hear.
