I have been asked by a local publican if i can make him some beer barrel urinals like these

I am sort of interested but it looks like a massive PITA.They are for sale on Etsy for around £400. From what I can see thats not too bad a price.
I am concened about the following, cutting them up and prepping edges. Are they double skinned?cutting holes for plumbing fittings etc. I imagine a hand drill and a hole saw will be a hideous job.
Cut them, open with plasma or angle grinder?
To me this looks like a job that could drive me mad or might be a simple thing to do. I do have a bad habit of overthinking things.
On the images he sent me the edges of the cutaways are just polished with no beading around them, this looks a lot less haslle than in this picture.
Any thoughts appreciated, I'm in a position where I can 'just say no' after finishing a big old job

ask you publican customer to borrow a spare Keg connector, just attach that and depress the locking handle to de pressurise them.

in 60 years i have never known someone to come out the pizzer saying they have just headbutted a urinal...Well tell a lie but that's for another day

my complaint is the water in the bottom is always cold

Kegs were depressurised along with a comedy face full of slops for him.
We are thinking maybe disable the tap thingy and use it for the water supply, one less hole to make and it adds a feature.~
Bottoms are concave from the inside by the look of it, I'll be chopping no1 up in the next few days

It's a sort of scam. I am led to believe the person taking charge of these barrels pays a deposit and when they are returned, you get the deposit back.

Problem being there are typically a number of middlemen each taking their "cut" for the deposit. Bottom line being no one ever wants to pay the ~£80 deposit for a barrel they probably can't use anyway (I'm talking about the old, "been in the yard for years" off ticket barrels). Funny because I guess they must cost a couple of hundred quid to make and are probably "worth" £50 ish secondhand for anyone happy to dabble in "stolen" property.

OTOH it would be foolhardy to suggest there should be an amnesty on the resale of these things because they'd just start "disappearing".

I think the current state of affairs is about right, a bit like calor gas bottles. You shouldn't really be chopping them up because you never "own" them but if it doesn't become a problem for the suppliers, possession is 9/10ths of the law...
