I'm thinking of getting one of these, any one have any experience?

It's a sandpaper belt, it'll nibble metal... Just don't go mental (i.e. don't try to remove 3" off the length at an angle). Think of it as a finishing machine - take to final dimension from rough cut or weld prep.

The one I have is identical to the draper one, but different badge.

After reading your advice and reviews on the web I kept getting drawn to the Clarke machine below. It's a known brand and comes with a cast iron base, handy for me as it will most probably be moved around as I don't have enough space to leave it permanently bolted down.

I did see that, but it's £112 once the vat is added plus ive then got a 40 mile round trip to go and pick it up.

It's not very obvious from the web page, but it is £93 incl VAT until the end of Monday - check the top right corner - you have to add that code to get the RRP reduced.
That said, a 40 mile round trip isn't worth it for £6
I'm not interested.Machine arrived today, haven't even opened the box or picked it up from the hall way as I got busy with the lathe
