i didnt count vise grips ,, in the drawer ,, or mole grips I prefer for land rover welding { the release lever works the other way and is far easier to use with thicker gloves on]
Ive two more milk crates full of mixed mole grips too lol one in each of the places I weld most , saves lugging kit about.

How have you kept them so clean?
I like project farm on youtube for advice on stuff like that. Everybody claims their brand is best but project farm gives them a good test beside the other good brands. In the combination pliers test he didn't have snap on but he still recommended knipex as best.
He did have snap on in the side cutters test though and they were very poor compared to the other top brands. Again knipex came out good and for cheap cutters just as good was irwin and klein. Snap on was probably worst for performance compared to cost.

Using car coolant pipe is a good fix on certain things. If it's not to hand then I'm sure there's other things. But I've got some grips with coolant pipe handles.
Stick them in a vice bit of easing oil and wrestle the pipe over.
I also find that side cutters are great for trimming your finger nails.
Ive another couple of boxes that I use for nasty jobs , about half a dozen pairs of pliers between them ,, that drawer is the ones I use at home and that tends to be tidier work , so they stay tidy , and a wipe over with an oily rag at the end of the day ,,, actually acf50,, keeps things tidy. The vise grips are really spares , the mole grips in the milk crate are land rover welding tools so they earn their keep , but rusty tools , pliers that take two hands to open , and vise grips that just dont work bug me , so I look after them ,,, again Ive a plastic bottle brush I use on the inside of sockets when they get icky , This is going to sound crazy , but I actually dont like my hands to be dirty ......... and if you saw half of the things I work on you would understand how crazy it is , from sewage macerators , to boat engines , rusty landrovers etc etc .... But I do spend just a little bit of extra time at the end of every job to wipe over tools , I spend good money on them and like them to work.
Except the Snap On linesmans pliers ,,, I just bought them as I always wanted a pair , and couldnt afford them at the time ,,, now I can , so I just bought a couple of pairs to '' just have '' and an extra pair in case I actually wanted to use them ,,
[Dont even ask about sockets and ratchets , clamps or grinders .]

Fair play, I'm mobile with little time between jobs and travel I do tend to degrease most tools at the end of each job, I don't like dirty tools and agree to dirty hands I get rather annoyed when I pick up a tool that has thick black grease on it
I do have a box of fifth wheel tools which are truly revolting and require marigolds these go into a sites parts wash if I'm on site long enough.
I also have clean interior tools (everyone laughs at my work electric screwdriver until they see it in action), the worst I think is carbon from exhausts that seems to really blacken everything.

I've just had a quick tot up, I've got at least 40 pairs across the drawers of tools I actually use, probably about as many again in my big cantilever toolbox of duplicates at spares.

It's just one toolbox stashed away under my bench, I hang onto them for when I need a tool or modify or abuse. I agree there's not much point keeping duplicates, the drawers I actually work out of are strictly culled because I don't have much space.
