Blast cabinet refurb.

I have one of these cabinets. When I first used it without an extraction hose I suffered with a bad cough even though I had a dust mask on. I resealed the door and that helped a lot. I then made up an adaptor that I could clip on to the exit port on the back and linked it to a Henry. That really helped. I found that the clear door protection film soon clouded over and wan't easy to clean. So I invested in 50 A3 clear printer films and a couple of rolls of 1/2 inch double sided tape. I made up the films with the double sided tape around the edges, making sure the smooth side faced the inside of the cabinet. These were easy and quick to change and a lot cheaper that the proper ones. As regards the blast nozzles, I found you can buy them in bulk on Ebay. I bought the smallest nozzle size as they wear pretty quickly if you have the pressure too high. I kept the inlet filter. The light is rubbish and I found it best to blast in poor light to stop the reflection in the viewing window. The media pick up on these is rubbish as it keeps sucking an empty pit and you end up tipping the whole cabinet up to redistribute the media. It need a pyramid hopper not a ridge hopper. Perhaps modifying so that the media falls out of the bottom and gets collected in a receptacle and sucked up again would be better.

i rehashed mine as the original pickup was crap and i made tapered sides for mine to funnel the media to the middle

Any chance of a picture, as I would love to modify my one. Did you weld the sides in or just mastic them? Cheers.

Sorry, just found your post linking to the pictures! How did you attach it to the bottom and I too would like to know what the screwdriver do?

@brightspark and is that just box section as hopper at the bottom. What's the screwdriver do.

its just a square 2 inch hollow box section with a couple of endcaps theres a 1 and a half inch hole in the middle of the ally box that aligns up with the hole in the bottom of the hopper where the media drops through.the pickup pipe goes in through the end and can be adjusted in and out so it can suck up the media from the small heap that drops through . the screwdriver has a thread ed screw on the end to tighten the tube once it is set in position

I had one similar to yours, hope it doesn’t affect your back like mine did . Leaning over while using it crippled my back

My back is already terrible and pains me i will get it to the height i feel comfortable at with legs and a shelf or 2 under it

Opps though as much went it went bang. Time to upgrade to leds now then I think.

Just waiting for the led strip then it's finished. Well ready to use anyway. I fitted a T into the airline so I can have a blow gun to clean the media off before removing the items from the cabinet. Cut some thin sheet and covered the purspex door. Heat shrunk the metal catches to hold the door down. I have a pair if break calipers to try it out on
