BMW F11 Water Ingress

All day with a fan heater set on medium power has worked wonders. It’s still sodding wet but not as much as before.

I’m not going anywhere in a rush so more fan heater treatment until it’s dry.

Dread to think what the leccy bill will be

I would have done, but in current climes things are a bit difficult here

Two days of fan heater running have done the trick, things are nice n dry.

Rain is forecast today, if things remain dry then I’ll put the interior back together again

Our mk1 fiesta used to smell like , well it used to smell horribly when the heater got the interior warm. Turned out the sound proofing under the carpet was sodden - beware the smelly fish syndrom!

Hi Parm...I just sold my F30 .....it too used to collect leaves so I bought some fine mesh and put round the bonnet hinges and that area. I now have an F32 which also has huge 'openings' for leaves. I checked on the parts list and you can buy tailor made 'leaf protectors' from BMW for around £50 a pair but I have used more wire mesh as we live under 15 or so very large council trees that shed tons of leaves..don't even mention the bird poo from them

Hi Parm..just got this off pistonheads..think this is for the F30 but sure they do same for 5 series.....hope this helps..I might order some for mine they would look much neater than my mesh!!

OP, have you searched RealOEM.com, and put your last seven digits of your VIN?

Leaf grille left is part number 51717402081
Leaf grille right is part number 51717402082
But double check.
Rivets or screws may also be needed.

In other news it’s fully dry and all gone back together, nothing broke, nothing lost, no spare parts

Just need a warm day now so I can give the cream carpet a good scrub with whatever cleaner stuff is good, they are water marked
