BOC and Volkszone - Gas Offer

Yeh I know its not as good as the Boc offer but its is local to me & cheaper than my existing AP deal. Each time I needed to fill up would cost me £10 in fuel to go to BOC compared to £1 to the local.

check the fill pressure on the bottles justme. i noticed many are stating the volume in ltrs which means nothing really. its the pressure they are filled to that makes the difference BOC normally state there cylinder size in cubic mtrs. which is probaly a more accurate way of measuring as its litre size x fill pressure divided by 1000 . so an x size is 2.42 cubic mtrs or enough gas to fill a small skip.

the 20l holds 4m3
& the 50l holds 10m3

can any one tell me what physical size that bottle is ?

ive got a small hobby mig with a 3mm ish pipe , whats its gona cost in adaptors and regualtors etc to get this working?

bottle is 40 inches high and my boc dealer did me a deal for reg and adaptor for another 40 quid.

What is this adaptor for? im getting a size Y soon and have been using a size W with a regular regulator. Do i need another adaptor?

justme, sorry i missed the bit about the fill pressure, i obviously wasnt paying attention. I know what you mean about travelling distance, some time ago Air products were offering very good deals but the nearest AP agent is at least 30 mins drive away, and BOC is 10mins away. Lucky enough i sorted a new pricing deal with BOC so i was happy.

No biggy.

My AP agent is 5 mins away. The independant in town is about 8-10 mins but BOC is 40 mins each way on a good day. In tourist season at the wrong time of day it can take over 2 hours each way.

As promissed here are the details for my local supplier.

1. The rental is charged monthly in arrears (you only pay for what cylinders you have on the last day of the month)
£5.50 per cylinder.

2. The Gwynedd 5 is £36.00 for a 50L cyl
The Gwynedd 5 is £23.00 for a 20L cyl

3. The pressure on all current cylinders is 200 bar

4. The cyls are either 20L or 50L as above

5. The Gwynedd 5 mix is as follows:
93% Argon
4% CO2
2% Oxygen

6. The cylinders all have female threads, compatable with both BOC & Air Products, unless you have a quick release valve fitted currently.

Can some one add that to the spreadsheet.

Do those prices include VAT?

Er I dunno. I did call as a person not a company so they should have quoted me inc VAT but I bet its ex VAT.


I will ask them.


Also looking at what was emailed to me you could get a bottle at the start of the month & return it before the end & not pay rental. Shame they only do one gas type it could be good for the odd TIG Ali or brazing job.

Just spoke to Justin - my workshop isn't quite finished so wanted to delay the bottle by upto a month. I asked him when is the offer likely to run out - next week was his reply.

He's sorted out my account - and will be picking up the bottle in Dec (end) or early Jan - and rental will start when bottle is collected.
