Thanks mate...its time consuming and can be hard work but I do find it very therapeuticLovely work God, that's something I'd love to learn as it takes discipline and the results must be so satisfying, sadly discipline isn't my strong point..
Good day sir,I just stumbled across your empire lathe rebuild and I must say You have done an awesome job on her..I have one of those old lathes in my shed and it should be revamped like yours but it’s very low on the list of things to do,it is in running order and it do be used every now and then.View attachment 262618
No worries, I only got it out of the van today and spent an hour cleaning the brass swarf and general muck off. Did manage to get it up on its legs.
Hi. I can take pictures of the brass screw cutting plates if that helpsGood day sir,I just stumbled across your empire lathe rebuild and I must say You have done an awesome job on her..I have one of those old lathes in my shed and it should be revamped like yours but it’s very low on the list of things to do,it is in running order and it do be used every now and then.
I would like to find a Manuel or some literature on this lathe because most of the brass plates are worn beyond recognition And would help me if and when I decide to do a rebuild such as yours…cheers
Wow nice to see someone from the other side of the pond. The closest bit to us in fact! Welcome and beware. When I first came to this forum I had 2 lathes. Now I have 9. Along with 4 milling machines and 4 surface grindersThanks for the pics, they are in great shape so now I can cross reference them and yes she is all in one piece and in working order as a matter of fact I was using it today to turn down an eccentric shaft for a project in doing. I’m not a machinist by no means but i pulled this machine out of the scrapyard and I’m doing a few odd jobs and learning as I go.Thanks for the reply.
cheers from Newfoundland.
