Today I am making the jacking bolts for the empire lathe motor plate .these being 1 inch whitworth.

The Schneider switch panel is lovely, where did you get it from? I've got buttons and a reverse switch ready for my mill but need to get a pot and a box.
Looking really good, very impressive finish on the paint too, is it just brushed enamel?

Four jacking bolts done. Got some more file work to do on these. And a little porosity on the welds....but they will hold up just fine..

First of all what a fantastic restoration. I haven’t been on this forum for a number of years apart from the occasional lurk when looking for answers. I have just purchased a mk1 Empire and most of it is still in the back of the van. It does need some work to get it up and running, what it doesn’t have is any change gears, I was thinking along the lines of using readily available gears and making them fit/work but I would really appreciate knowing what number teeth to start with. I’m not very likely to be cutting threads.

After a lot of swearing I finally get bits in to a reasonable position. Turned the motor on its side and changing the motor mounting position. Made a start on the lever that will operate the bracket for belt change speed. It all looks a bit crude at the moment. But it's getting everything in position and being happy with it that takes time...and I in know hurry...once I am finally happy I will take the lot out for final assembly and paint prep.
