Does anyone know how this outlet is fastened into the inner tank? I am just going to fit my stop tap and filter but can turn the large connector pictured by hand. Its tightish but can tighten further by hand. I've nipped it up clockwise hand tight but dont want the oil leaking into the bund!!

I think (not certain) that the outlet threads into the inner tank (or at least to a nut and seal inside.
Either way - I'd not want to risk overtightening the large external hexagon.
I'm thinking use a spanner to keep the large hex steady while removing the blanking plug and attaching your outlet tap.
I bought some Heldite to add confidence that my threaded connections were leak-proof.... but once applied you'll have a swine of a job undoing again, so the choice is yours there

Wow. That was tight to get the blanking plug undone.
So I think, and correct me if this is wrong, that the massive outer nut is threaded onto the outlet from the inner tank? Since I seem to be able to move this slightly, should I take it off and reseal it with a load of ptfe??

It has to seal against the outer bund otherwise thats useless. I cant see down between the two tanks to see whats going on at the bottom.
I cant seem to find anything online about the construction.
Big label above a bunded oil tank outlet here says:
"Do not over tighten fittings
onto outlet. Doing so could
affect your guarantee.
The outlet must not be held
with grips whilst attaching
fittings."
It doesn't really make sense. The outlet supplied with the tank should already have been tightened and the system leak tested before it left the factory. Logically, there should be seals between the outlet and both skins of the tank, so that if the inner tank leaks, there shouldn't be a route for the oil to reach the outside, around the outlet. Attaching an oil tank fitting kit should be done with minimum disturbance to the outlet itself, which, to me, means holding the outlet with a suitable spanner to prevent it from turning.

Don't use ptfe. Buy a good quality liquid oil jointing compound (by the look of that nut it's what has been used on it before). Try and gently unscrew the nut and then remove all traces of the jointing from the nut and the pipe. Depends what the end of the valve that you want to screw into it looks like as to whether you can use a washer between them. Both must have flat faces. As there is no other visible way of holding the pipe whilst you make the joint it would look very much that the nut forms the seal to both parts. Is the valve that you want to fit the one that was previously on the tank?

Unless you are sure it’s assembled correctly you will have to do a trial fill
The draw off and bund must be sealed internally and externally
Not done one fir years but I’m sure the original instructions say that fitting shouldn’t be turned when fitting the tap
Fit your tap and half fill tank with water … no leak and no water leaking into the bund and it’s good … then put a foot into the bund and check that seals too … ball ache is you then have to drain it all but at least you know it’s right

Nope held it with big shifter, screwed valve in covered in sealant. But mine was a new under warranty tank.
Thanks folks. I have written to Atlas to see if they might advise. Not really sure what to do. I dont want to remove it if there are other seals behind it that I will disturb.
Just for the record, I am trying not to move it. I noticed it moved slightly when I went to undo the blanking plug. I then held it still with a wrench whilst I undid the plug and gently nipped it up by hand afterwards.
I think the setup looks something like this? Not sure if there are sealing washers in there so just tighteming it up should be ok? Or if the big nut needs removing and threads sealing too? I havent removed it the drawing just shows it off!
