They've claimed that for years, I mean at least five or six years back. Arguing with retailers over letting them have one or two of a given size.they have a shortage of bottles apparently

What sort of deposit are you supposed to pay to rent calor cylinders?
I have at least 5 cylinders that I have 'acquired' over the years. Never paid a single deposit. In previous years they were dumped at recycling centres along with old fire extinguishers and were available for the taking, even got a few full cylinders that way. Now they are all locked away in cages and not accessible.
reason been they collected them all up a few yrs ago and scraped the lot.they have a shortage of bottles apparently
We took out contract 18 yrs ago for new bottled Calor for our caravan , You need the rental agreement/contract for refund IIRC the bottle return value diminishes to zero after something like five years . Not sure if it can only be reclaimed at the original point of supply either...... they still own the bottle after that point .What sort of deposit are you supposed to pay to rent calor cylinders?

IIRC ........ Reason :- severe dangerous internal rust & water from wet gas in the bottles made & filled in Chinajust exchanged a 19kg propane. Took it to my usual dealer, who had changed to flowgas, wouldnt take or exchange the calor. Wanted £60 for a bottle and 40 for the gas. Found a Calor stockist. £62 HFM

probably because the bigger bottles wouldnt fit in to the storage boxes on caravans even the new ones the idea was they wanted to cater for the larger users. most people would be changing bottle suppliers that fit so they thought better of itThought it would be worth reviving this thread as apparently Calor have changed their mind and are now not going to discontinue the small Butane and Propane cylinders.

It was in the Caravan & Motorhome club magazine, no new ones to be issued but would exchange existing ones.I heard this as well - don't know if it true or not....?

In the last month or so, it could have been the Camping & Caravan club mag, definitely one or the otherHow recently?
months ago i saw this from there website. there carrying on swapping them for folk but if return bottles are out of test date or damaged they wont be replaced and scrapped so eventualy when theres not many left thats itIt was in the Caravan & Motorhome club magazine, no new ones to be issued but would exchange existing ones.
A friend of ours has the same problem, just bought a new campervan to find out they couldn’t get the gas. Luckily they found that Calor patio gas cylinders would fit the locker. We've been concerned about this too. The gas locker on our van will only take 2 x 3.9kg cylinders.
It would require major surgery to get anything bigger in.
Yes, I read it the latest Caravan etc. magazine. I also had a look on Calor's (chaotic) website. Which shows the small Butane and propane cylinders. It was in the Caravan & Motorhome club magazine, no new ones to be issued but would exchange existing ones.
did you know you pay more for patio gas bottle exchange than the standard screw on regulator ones and its the same gas patio gas regulators clip on and are safer than screw ones when people are p.issed and change the bottleA friend of ours has the same problem, just bought a new campervan to find out they couldn’t get the gas.
