You still have to pay the electric!
Big ile electric arc maybe overkill for 100kg
In all seriousness most small industrial areas dont have enough power for big induction furnace and the tariffs on high users makes gas more viable for small operations.
Now if you’re Sheffield forgemasters working steel arc furnace is the best way which is a very old process btw

Foundry master came to see me today.
This is a new foundry with quite a reputation, they cast the engines for the auto union recreations amongst other famous stuff.
Was talking of my plan to make a bench vice slightly bigger than the record 18 1/2
I thought he'd look at me like a loony but he informed me that he does already cast vices.
He does the castings for the bugati vice which is stupid money!

At least it will be cast from the right grade. I cant imagine a cast iron vice lasting long with a BFH. Or will it it be a door stop

has to be the right grade of cast iron. Ordinary grey cast no fun

Foundry man dropped these off today. 36” try out in aluminium which can still use as a non scraping straight edge and a ten inch welding square. Should look nice machined.
Lastly a bronze camel back, should be nice when machined and cleaned up
