Just had a play with mine, white 2.4 tungstens, one laid down tried with no gas burnt back to blueish colour, new tungsten in torch turned gas to 8lpm and ran a bead ..ish. Under bead is bit i tried with no gasView attachment 282175
Stupoty, yes bud I’ve tried various pieces of aluminium thinking the same thing as you that it was poor quality or unweldable material but unfortunately still exactly the same

Not tried Ali yet as still crap at mild steel but I thought AC was electrode + , at least a lot of youtube videos give it as that.No you don't, you just flick the switch from DC to AC.
All TIG welding has the torch on the Negative.

yeah, my mistake, had this video stuck in my head while reading this thread.Even when welding aluminium with tig the electrode is negative
