no it doesn't work with any thing but acetylene because of the flame temperature.
HVOF works on propane. About 12 bottles on a manifolded pallet will do it.

The powder is horrendously expensive, like many I've managed to pick up powders at various auctions etc.
However it is an absolute time save for some jobs - the fact you get no distortion of shafts means you dont need to straighten in a press or try an heat straighten the shaft like you would need to if doing a normal weld build up.
