I'm not sure what to paint this timber deck with if anything at all. Creosote is out as are any of the smelly wood preservers. The "planks" will be mixed timbers from the lumber mill scrap pile. Beech, ash, maybe cherry and some random pine. I was thinking something like Thompson's Water Seal. I neither want to poison the cats or put them off.

I'm sure though the cats prefer it au naturale.

I think that leaving it as is would be best. It is still going to last you out as well as the Slocomes.
