More can I than should I. I like the idea of upcycling stuff that is only destined to be burnt or left to rot. If can achieve +/-2mm I'll be happy.

Non toxic wood treatment non toxic wood stain preserver which will never fade or peel. It only needs one application and can be applied to bare wood.

Why not just use linseed or teak oil? Thin it down a bit, it'll soak well into the wood.

They don’t give away too much information.

I’ve never had much luck with the water based wood treatment products and tend to use Osmo products but they are a bit more expensive.

I believe it’s the biocides that you are trying to avoid to keep the timber pet friendly. I suspect that treatments that are pet friendly may not be so effective in the long term.

The whole frame is nom 46x46 timber. Plan is to clad in pallet wood both sides with 40mm Celotex in between.

I had to look that up, I was going to put Cat-5 but then thought Cat-6 as it's "that new one". Old git that I am.

If it is an elderly Cat you could fit Cat-3 cable so it stands a better chance of keeping up.
If you run Tolkien Ring over it so the Cat has some small furry things to entertain it.
